  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (room temp)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg (room temp)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup cake flour (sifted)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (room temp)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar
  • 5 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together oil, butter, and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
  3. In another bowl, sift together cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients with sour cream and milk until just combined.
  4. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl mixture.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner halfway with batter; sprinkle with cinnamon swirl mixture. Add more batter until three-quarters full.
  6. Bake for about 16 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. For frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until creamy; gradually add confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Cool cupcakes completely before frosting.
