  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional, for toasting rolls)
  • Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated onion, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Roll into 1-inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. Heat marinara sauce in a skillet over medium heat.
