  • 1 oz parmesan cheese (shredded)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 28 oz can whole tomatoes (pureed)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce by sautéing minced garlic in olive oil in a skillet. Add crushed and pureed tomatoes, oregano, bay leaf, and salt; simmer for 20 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, garlic, parmesan cheese, parsley, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, and salt. Mix gently without overworking the mixture.
  3. Form uniform meatballs (about 1.5 inches) using wet hands and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Brown meatballs in olive oil over medium-high heat until golden brown on all sides.
  5. Transfer browned meatballs into the simmering tomato sauce and let them cook together on low heat for at least an hour.
